Explora Atacama is located in the desert oasis town of San Pedro de Atacama, in the Larache Ayllu, once inhabited by ancient Atacameño families and one of the 14 ayllus -or traditional indigenous unit of social organization- that make up the locality. The lodge and its 50 rooms were designed to take advantage of and reflect the silence and spaciousness of the natural surroundings and have been built in a 17-hectare estate that respects timeworn pathways and vestiges of its original inhabitants.

Explora boasts its own private observatory to enjoy some of the clearest skies in the world. Additionally, it has its own stables with some of the finest horses in the region that have been specially bred to traverse the desert grounds.
