Essentials of the Andean High Plateau

This unique South American journey begins in Lima, the gastronomical capital of Perú, where you will enjoy a true fine-dining experience and have the chance to dance to the beat of the Peruvian cajón with traditional live music. From there, you will make your way to the famous Sacred Valley and take the train up the mountains to explore the mystical ruins of Machu Picchu citadel. Then, fly to the beautiful colonial city of Arequipa and visit the Colca Canyon. Continue  onwards into the heart of the Peruvian highlands to Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world shared by Peru and Bolivia. Its waters are home to diverse Andean communities and a hotspot for some of Peru’s largest festivals, like those that take place on the numinous Island of the Sun, an important ritual location for both Quechua and Aymara people.

Afterwards continue to Bolivia’s capital, La Paz, where you will explore the city and delight in the best gastronomy it has to offer. The journey ends in the impressive Uyuni Salt Flat, the world’s largest desert of salt, which offers amazing landscapes and experiences for the those who thrive on adventure in gorgeous nature.

Day 1

Lima, Peru

Hotel B, Lima
Lima’s only Relais & Châteaux hotel, this restored Belle Époque mansion was first built in 1914 as a summer home for a wealthy Limeño family. Following extensive restoration works, the white stucco mansion recovered its former glory and has been operating as a luxury boutique hotel for over 10 years. Decorated with impeccable taste, there are more than 300 wonderful and valuable pieces of art on display. The Patio is a peaceful space, an internal courtyard between the historic and contemporary wings of the hotel. With a living wall, water feature and modern art everywhere you look, it is a favorite spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Set in the bohemian neighborhood of Barranco, the hotel is surrounded by art galleries, boutique shops, cafes, restaurants, historic buildings and the Pacific Coast.

Urubamba Sacred Valley, Peru

Snaking between Machu Picchu and the fortress of Pisac, the Sacred Valley was the breadbasket of the Incan Empire. Sol y Luna hotel brings a hint of earthly paradise to this fertile stretch of the Andes. Cusco, Peru

Inkaterra La Casona, Cusco
The first 5-star boutique hotel in Cusco, Inkaterra La Casona is located in the traditional Plaza de las Nazarenas, surrounded by vibrant, cobblestoned streets. This 16th Century manor house stands on the training grounds for an elite army of Incas, and had Spanish Conquistador Diego de Almagro and ‘Libertador’ Simón Bolívar among its illustrious guests. After being harmoniously restored throughout five years, emphasizing its original architecture, Inkaterra La Casona reflects the encounter of cultures and traditions across centuries. Surrounding the main patio, its 11 suites are provided with chimneys, heated floors and extra-large bathtubs. Its halls are decorated with colonial furniture, Pre-Columbian textiles and original murals. The Yacu therapy room offers bespoke treatments and, like the manor’s dining room, uses products derived from local sources.

Days 5

Machu Picchu, Peru
