Day 6

PUMA LODGE, Chile

We will go deep into Andean mountain landscapes, enjoying angling in areas that
remain unexplored along the Chilean Central Andes. Due to the area’s high and
jagged terrain and the sharpness of the surrounding gorges, there are hidden lagoons
and valleys with lush vegetation, ideal conditions for catching brown and rainbow trout,
which feed mainly on nymphs. The experience just gets more and more interesting
once we reach the border with Argentina. Andean mountain spring creeks house huge
trout that are incomparably powerful, feature acquired due to the extreme conditions
they live in, where only the strongest survive. Baits used are large stonefly and
ephemera or mayfly nymphs, at dead drift… you must only observe how the line is
tensing and cutting the upstream water to know there’s a fish at its end.
