Cajón del Maipo

With a handful of peaceful mountain communities scattered along the sides of the road that traverses the canyon running alongside the Maipo River, there are plenty of chances to connect with local central Chile mountain culture in the midst of the imposing Andean foothills. One of its highlights is El Morado Natural Monument, a glacial cirque that resembles an amphitheater formed by glacial erosion, that is home to San Francisco glacier, and to many flora and fauna species, among which is the magnificent Andean condor.
