Conguillío National Park is located in the Araucanía Region, 148 km northeast of Temuco. In Mapuche language, Conguillío means "pine nuts in the water" or "among pine nuts", based on the abundance of araucarias and the lakes and lagoons that surround them.

ABOUT

This stunningly beautiful park, with an area of ​​60,832 ha, has a striking native vegetation, highlighting the ancient Araucaria pine trees; also abundant are Nothofagus forests with Ñirres, Coihues, Lengas and Raulíes. The landscape is crowned with the imposing presence of Llaima Volcano. One of the most visited parks in Chile, the BBC named this National Park as one of the last refuges in the world of the landscape where dinosaurs lived. One of its main attractions is the ascent to the Sierra Nevada, a high volcanic mountain range from where you can get a breathtaking view of the valleys below, Lake Conguillío and the Llaima Volcano in the background.
