Valparaíso

Situated on the Pacific coast, a little more than an hour away from Santiago, Valparaíso (or Valpo to the locals) is a city steeped in history. Once known as “the jewel of South America” and considered as one of the most important port towns in the world, this city’s bohemian, youthful and artful revival over the past decades has made it a must-visit destination when touring the region. Go out for a walk up and down its many hills, ride on one of the 16 historical lifts with panoramic views of the bay, and get lost in alleyways full of graffiti street art, little bars and art galleries. Valparaíso is close to many of the wineries and vineyards in the nearby Casablanca valley - which will make a perfect match for a gastro-cultural day or multi-day visit out of Santiago.
