Lauca National Park

Lauca National Park is located in the Region of Arica and Parinacota, northernmost region of the country, and has existed as such since 1970.

About

Some of the inhabitants typical of Lauca National Park area are Pumas, Taruca deer, Vicuña camelids, Culpeo foxes and Vizcachas, a big Chinchilla-like rodent that lives among the rocks. The village of Parinacota also lies within the park, notorious for its frozen-in-time architecture and character, and its XVII century church, built in 1670 by the Spanish conquistadors themselves.
