EASTER ISLAND

There is nowhere else in the world as mystic as Easter Island. On this remote island stand some of the world’s most striking statues, almost logic-defying. The overall vibe of Rapa Nui, as Easter Island is called in the local indigenous language, is magnetic and spiritual. Very few travelers might realize that, but there are plenty of activities one can do in the island. While water diving, snorkeling and surfing being the top choices, on-land activities like trekking, cycling and horseback riding are all the more appealing with the green landscape as backgrounds. We also suggest travelers to disconnect with rest of the world for a moment, indulge in the beach, and regain the long-lost inner harmony.

The exotic, indigenous aspect of Easter Island is another highlight. Reputed as the “Navel of the world”, the erecting massive stone monuments called Moais built over 800 years ago testify of the island’s mysticism. The luxury hotels picked by our Chilean travel design experts, even features indigenous-inspired décor.

CHILOE

Mystery, ghost figures, superstition, legends. Chiloé is the island of intriguing stories. Travelers will notice the town’s mystic flare by looking at the traditional palafitos (houses built on stilts above the water) and steaming fish stews cooked in the ground. Chiloé’s unique cultural identity never ceases to enchant its visitors, from the first Spanish conquerors, the Jesuit missionaries, to anthropologists today. VM Elite’s luxury travel specialists in Chiloé are anthropologists who know the complete story of “El trauco”, a local mystical figure believed to be seducing women. We also recommend romanticists go on the “Muelle de las alas”, a legendary site that promises eternal love in a solitary landscape.

The area’s natural bounty contributes to Chiloe´s mysticism. Travelers can spot Chilote foxes, hundreds of bird species and humpback whales on their way to Patagonia. Hikers could head south to Tantauco Park, where they will find impressive network of hiking trails that wind through larch, myrtle and cypress trees.
