Maipo Valley is a massive wine region containing 30,000 acres of vineyards just outside of Santiago. More than half of the land is dedicated to Cabernet Sauvignon. The terroir of Maipo Alto is unparalleled in Chile: multiple exposures to the sun, warm days and cool nights, little to no rainfall, and the alluvial soils that give its wine so much mineral quality.

The tour starts at a boutique vineyard which a French-Chilean partnership, based on the model of a French Chateau. European characteristic and American innovativeness complement each other extremely well in this vineyard which is surrounded by miles of green fields, features incredible vista of the majestic Andes mountains and feel-cozy wooden houses.

The tour goes on at a middle-range vineyard that combines the owner’s two passions: wines and horses. The cellar is shaped in the form of a horseshoe and uses gravity to have the wine flow through the different stages of vilification. The vineyard offers a restaurant where we will enjoy a late lunch before heading back to Santiago.
